The Story That Made Me Cry

I wanted to blog about something funny. I had already imagined how I would tell you guys about something embarrassing that happened to me a few days ago, But after reading something a friend of mine sent a link to I just couldn't. I read something awful. I wish it was just a story but it's real. It really happened.

Have you guys heard of baby Brianna Lopez? Baby Brianna Lopez died July of 2002 at only 5 months old. She didn't die of sickness, although I think that would have been much better than what she had gone through in her short 5 months of life. She was abused by her parents. No wait, abuse is a mere understatement. I just can't find words to describe how badly they hurt this sweet angel. To make the long story short, baby Brianna had old and new bruises all over her body, old and new fractures, old and new bite marks. Her father and uncle even raped her!!! Now, some of you might wonder what her mother did? Well, her mother was in on it too, she also beat the baby and bit her several times. The night she died her parents and uncle were drunk. They tossed her up and down and she hit the ceiling a couple times and slammed onto the ground. They tossed her some more, sometimes they were able to catch her and other times they didn't. The mother went to sleep first while the father and uncle raped her numerous times that night.

The next day, her mother noticed that she was not breathing. So they brought her to the hospital. I read in some of the links that she was dead on arrival, I also read in other links that she died 2 days after she was brought to the hospital. I don't know.

The old and new bite marks, bruises, fractures meant that she had been abused for all of her 5 months of life. How sad is that? Her finger was also lacerated. She was badly beaten from head down to her very toes. The cops who investigated on the case cried, they couldn't believe at what this poor child went through. Upon questioning the uncle about the bite marks, some news articles mentioned him saying something like "I didn't bite a huge chunk off of her". OMG!!!

There aren't any pictures of her at home. None, not even one. The only pictures there are of baby Brianna are those of when she was dead, with bruises all over her face and body. The picture some of you might see if you search about her is actually edited, the community where Brianna was from wanted to remember her as a sleeping angel. Below is a copy of the edited baby Brianna picture and two more pictures of her all bruised up.

What happened to her parents and uncle? Well, they didn't get the death penalty. They have to serve a few years in prison, but I don't know for how long. Baby Brianna's grandmother knew of what happened but never reported it to authorities. She also went to jail but only for 30 days.

Sorry for sharing this story. I just wanted to get this off my chest. This story brought tears to my eyes.

Monster Kids

I have always love kids until yesterday. There were three little siblings, the oldest one was a boy who was about 6 years old, the middle child was 4 and the youngest one was a 2 year old girl. Eric the 6 year old boy was such a monster. He would kick and scream and throw tantrums. He would even karate kick our poor maids! He was a very fat kid who was just spoiled rotten. I tried to calm down this little boy and had him sit next to me. I offered to let him play with one of my brother's remote control cars and he told me to leave him alone or else he would also karate kick me! I was just appalled at this kid's behavior. So he then sits next to his brother Chris and watches him play with the gameboy. He aims for a punch at his brother's cheek but luckily for Chris, Eric missed. Chris continued playing and didn't mind his brother. So Uncle Dennis scolded Eric and to my surprise Eric still continued misbehaving, and spit on Uncle Dennis! Yes, the kid spit on Uncle Dennis! This kid is just such a monster. So my cousins and I all looked at him but he continued on being mean. Usually when kids notice all the grown ups giving them "the look" they usually stop and are then ashamed of what they did or even show remorse. But this kid was just something else.

His little sister Charmaine was running all over the place as well. The house was a mess. And I feared that Charmaine would run around breaking collector's edition antique porcelain and vases. She was finally tired from all the running and decided to drink some orange soda. She sipped and slurped the orange soda from the straw. And afterwards when no one was looking she took the straw out of the glass and splashed tiny drops of orange soda on the table. She then shoved her hand inside the glass and mixed the ice and soda together. Then she took her hand out of the glass and licked and sucked each finger to the very last drop. Then she went back to touching everything in the house with her sticky dirty hands. She got hold of my cellphone which I had placed on the table.

I tried to run after her but she ran under the tables and the little monster was just too fast for me. I feared she might drop my cellphone and break it. My heart pounded. Meanwhile, the fat little monster helped his sis and bit my leg! MONSTERS!!!!

I had to think quick. I proposed to play hide and seek. The little monster who bit me was gonna pay. =) He ran straight into one of the rooms and hid. I took Charmaine to our living room and asked her if she wanted to play with my make up. Her eyes beamed and she handed me my cellphone. She played with my hair for sometime and played with my make up as well. Agh...There's nothing like make up to get little girls to stop running around.

Eric the little monster fell asleep hiding in my room. No, I didn't bother looking for him. He was just so mean.

I can't imagine having kids like that and I don't even want to entertain the thought. I guess right now I'm happy borrowing my friends kids as long as they are well behaved.

What was I like when I was a kid. Gosh, I was painfully shy. I loved to sit in the corner and draw and play with my toys. There was a time when I was also a couch potato. I was so fat that I couldn't even sit still, when I tried to sit, I would automatically loose my balance and fall on my back. Then I remember sucking on my toes and laughing because it tickled. What a weird kid I was. =)

TMI THURSDAY: All natural hairspray

It's Thursday folks. Do you know what that means? It's time to join in on Lilu's TMI (too much information) Thursday. So how does this work...Well it goes like this...

"***Alright, folks, you know the rules. Join us all in humiliating the crap out of yourself every Thursday by sharing some completely tasteless, wholly unclassy, “how many readers can I estrange THIS week??” TMI story about your life. Or hell, about someone else’s!"

College days was a time of experimentation and a time where a lot of firsts took place. A friend of mine had gotten her first boyfriend. Kissing was still new to her and even to me. =) So anyhow months after my friend and her boyfriend became an official couple they had finally done it.

Since this was a time of firsts for most of my friends, every single detail had to be told. We giggled as we listened intently to her retell the events.

She told us that it was the first time for the both of them. It was funny because neither knew which hole it had to go into...ummm...that was terribly awkward for the both of them. So anyway... she was a bit disappointed because it wasn't how she had imagined it to be. They hugged and kissed some more after they had done it. The boyfriend kissed her forehead and caressed her hair. They fell asleep for a few hours and realized that it was already way past her curfew. She hurried home and went to bed.

The following day, her dad and mom went to her room to wake her since it was a Sunday and they always went to morning mass. As her mom and dad kissed her good morning, her mom pointed out that there was something all over her hair. So her mom reached to remove all the white dried up stuff on her hair. "sweetie, what's on your hair? it looks like dandruff or something?" My friend panicked, she gulped and said, "Ummm...I went to a huge party last night, it was a really formal event, I had my hair done and the hair dresser must have put tons of hair spray."....

hahahaha... all natural hairspray....and to this day, everytime I see my friend I can't keep myself from commenting just how lovely her hair looks. And she always says to me, it's from natural hairspray!

P.S. If you think this story is bad, click read my post from months ago titled "Don't Eat What You Can't Swallow" , click here to read the post.

Two Sides

A friend and I talked last night. We were talking about how simple yet complicated we were. She mentioned that I can be quite the sweetie but when my patience runs out, I can be the devil as well. There are two sides of me or maybe more. One is the exact opposite from the other. I believe that I am not alone. I am not the only one who is like this. It is so hard to define one’s being when you feel that there are two persons inside you. The war between them goes on each day and you can never guess who will win this time or next. Let me introduce myself to you with the help of these “two” people who’s been with me since the beginning of my existence..

I am an angel but sometimes a devil

Happy but Sad

Mature yet still childish in so many ways

Secure but Insecure

Silent but Noisy

Patient but Impatient

Beautiful but Ugly

Full yet Empty

Cautious but Reckless

Sweet but Bitter

Reserved but Liberated

Listens but also needs to be heard

Optimistic but Pessimistic

Strong yet Weak

Faithful but unfaithful

Understood but Misunderstood

Selfless yet Selfish

Loving yet Hating

Submissive but unyielding

There so many things about me, that if i were to write everything, one blog post wouldn’t be enough. There are gazillion words to describe who I am but I guess they still aren’t enough to show you exactly the wholeness of my being. I am unique yet common in so many ways.

Scientific studies shows.. “no two people in this world living or dead have the same fingerprints”..that alone gives me comfort that no matter how complicated I am as a person..given that I have these “two” people inside me..that even if I’m not the only person who has this kind of “disease”.. I am still me.

What A Week!

Hello folks! It's been a while hasn't it?! Missed me? I sure have missed blogging. Last week was one busy day after the other. I was able to check out a few blogs but not as many as I had hoped to check out. This week I'm back for good. Yey!
Thank you to everyone who cheered me on in my last post. Hosting/Emceeing was really really scary for me. You guys could not imagine how my heart was beating faster and slower all at the same time. I had cold sweats and felt like I was out of breathe. So anyhow. Most of you had asked me how I did... Well, I didn't do too bad. It wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be. Although in the beginning I did stutter and get sweaty but after a while, I felt my place and just went with the flow. I do hope to be able to conquer this fear one day. But honestly, I think I owe that final confidence and relaxation to the Food and Beverage Manager who gave me not just one glass of sangria but 3! That really helped to calm me up a bit. =)

The cocktail party ended at 10:30pm. By the time I got home I felt a little buzzed.
The following day, I went on a corporate Island Hopping tour with a couple travel agents, hoteliers, and people who are active in the tourism industry. This was my time to unwind. We got to use all the aqua sports for free. Yup, all the aqua sports like, wake boarding, jet skiing, banana boat rides, scuba diving, everything was free. It was a lot of fun. On the way back to land, the waves were really violent. And something from the boat broke. This was pretty scary. But the captain of the boat didn't look like he was in a panicky mode so I figured I'd just relax and stay calm. Besides, this wasn't my first scary sea experience... So below are a couple pictures from the island hopping escapades.

We were all smiles then there was a big wave and well, we lost our balance.

At last, the waves were calmer, now we can have a more steady shot!

Kelly and Jenn from the hotel industry, getting ready to have fun with the jet ski.

That empty space is my spot. The banana boat ride wasn't as fun as I thought. We were on it then the speed boat went faster and faster. I screamed "Woooah! this is sooooo much fun!!!" Then all the sudden we all fell off, someone elbowed my face and I think someone accidentally kicked my rib. Then I realized I didn't know how to swim. I panicked even though I had my life jacket. Everyone hopped back on the banana boat and I hopped into the speed boat and watch them fall into the water every now and then. I know I know...I'm such a party pooper!

kayak!

And yours truly... Still looking graceful on the wakeboard! hahaha

How was your week guys? Do anything interesting?
