A Different Kind of Dad

I want to thank you for being part of my life. I want to say thank you for protecting me from harm and trying your best to raise me well. I look up to you in every way. You are the "the wind beneath my wings". You taught me that no mountain is ever too high, that if I try my hardest everything is just within my reach.

I'm not the perfect daughter but you loved me perfectly. I can't say that I've never hurt you, I know I have, in words and in actions. But you never stopped caring. Thank you.

This time of the year I have always envied the other kids, kids who have a wonderful dad that they can say Happy Father's Day to. I envied how they had that strong yet gentle figure in their life. But now I realize I am the luckiest of them all. I have a gentle yet strong mom who is all I could ever ask for and more. God is wonderful, He may not have blessed me with a father who could be there for me, a father who could be there for his family, but God did bless me with a mother who's been both that, a father and mother in my life.

For being my angel, for being my mom, for being my dad, Happy Father's Day Mommy.
Oh and I for a few good laughs you guys have got to read some of my old posts about my mom and her techie side.

P.S. I also wanna say Happy Father's Day to my dear blogger friend Rick from RicAdeMus-Waiting for Wisdom. He's been my blogger friend for sometime now, a little over a year or two if I'm not mistaken.

Hi Mel, This is a beautiful post about your mom, very touching. You are lucky to have such a terrific mom, but don't be so critical of yourself--you're a pretty wonderful daughter.

PS - Thank you for the special greeting--you're a pretty wonderful friend too! =)

Very nice text!! Sometimes we don't realize what our parents (mum or dad) have done for us, and it's really nice a text as yours saying: thanks mum!
Thanks a lot for your birthday greetings!

It may not be conventional - but she sounds like a wonderful role model. No matter how it works, family is truely the best thing there is.

thank you for sweet comment. i think god puts us in certain roles because we can best glorify him in that role, and it sounds like your mom glorifies him the best by being there for you as your mom and dad!! Happy (mothers who are also) fathers day!!

This is such a beautiful post! I got a little choked up reading it:) And I think it's the perfect thing to co-opt fathers day for our moms. They do so much and are worthy of many days in their honor;) xx
