She Bangs!

Yesterday was a holiday. Where can you guys find me on a holiday? In the office. I am such a workaholic. One reason why I love working on a holiday is that I can work better alone. I love some quiet time where I can finish up everything without any interruptions.

Yesterday, was not the typical holiday scene for me. I was surprisingly not in the office. For the first time in a long time I got to sleep in. I woke up at 8am and had a good breakfast with my mom. Yes people, 8am for me is already considered sleeping in. Hahahaha. I was up and about and out of the house by 10am. I went over to my friend's house and we went to the mall to pick up my other friend.

It was a pretty simple get together with the girls. But despite the simplicity of this get together I was just so happy. So happy to not have to stress and bury myself with work. And just so happy to hang out with good friends. For the first time in a long time I actually felt like my age again, doing girly things, go shopping, getting my hair and nails done.

I went to a party about a month or two ago and I was given three free gift certificates for a hair spa. I went ahead and brought the gift certificates with me for me and the girls. I had no idea that the gift certificates expired October 28 of this year. The gift certificates were glued to this hard paper and the expiry date was written on the glued portion, so we had no way of knowing that the gift certificates expired unless we pulled the gift certificates away from the paper. The manager at the salon was kind enough to honor these expired gift certificates. My gift certificate also came with a free hair cut. I asked the hair stylist not to cut my hair since I have been wanting long hair for the longest time. Instead, I had the hair stylist trim my bangs. I wanted side bangs.
This is the picture I showed the hairstylist. I wanted Nicole Richie's bangs. I've been in love with her bangs for so long.

I was in near tears when I saw what the hairstylist did to my bangs. I look like an anime. I guess that is a lesson learned for me. Never use an expired gift certificate.
This hat was not working for me either.
Anything chocolate is a definite cheer me up treat.
Chocolate scones with nutella, whipped cream and strawberry jam.
Beef pizza infused with dark chocolate. And the cheese is mixed with grated white chocolate. The pizza tasted pretty interesting. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Thank goodness for hair clips and my mood lifters: Apple and Kelly

What do you guys do when you're having a bad hair day? What should I do with my bangs while they are still awkwardly, stiffly short?

What a fun, relaxing day! Minus the bangs of course! I hate when that happens! I have bangs a lot and I'm scared to let someone cut them every single time! Haha. I hope they grow at fast!!

I'm a bit skeptical about gift certificates to spas etc that I'm not familiar with. I've recently had bangs cut as well and not sure if I should post a picture! But the hot chocolate and the rest of the goodies look great. And thank heavens for friends!

PS Mel I've changed my blog url, please update your bookmark or GFC, it's http://vanishaslife.blogspot.com/

Oh poor you! There is nothing worse than getting your hair done and not being happy! I have the most unruly hair - it feels like everyday is a bad hair day - but on days when I don't have to work it's hats on for me!

Glad you got to have a day off and spend time with the people you love though. And, you are right - there is nothing that chocolate can't fix!

Hugs, Stephie x

the last picture is exactly how I styled my hair when I decided to cut my bangs like the way they cut yours. Glad you like the stud earrings.

There is NOTHING wrong with your bangs Mel!

The chocolate in the glass and the scones with nutella however are driving me nuts.

oh no! good thing for good friends and good chocolate! :)

I actually think they look good, but I know its so upsetting when a hairstylist butchers your hair, especially when you have something specific in mind and it comes out totally different.

Chocolate and alcohol usually numb this kind of pain for me :p xxx

That chocolate looks FABULOUS. My hair is totally ridiculous all the time, so I just let it do its thing.

Your hair looks pretty Mel, but I don't like the hat--or Richie.

I'm glad you put a holiday to good use to "sleep in" and spent time with your mom and friends. I'm like you about work and I'm learning a good lesson--people say they appreciate it, but really take it for granted. As long as we do it for ourselves, fine, but it's rare for a boss to appreciate it.

I am so scared of hairdressers! One too many times have they managed to leave me (almost/)in tears... I hope your bangs will grow fast and you'll get used to them and like them!

I love chocolate, but...pizza with chocolate? Hmmm, well I guess I should try it before judging :)

P.S. I love the paella/arroz negro, you should try it!

Wow, all those things loook soooooo good! I also always get up early, so eight is also sleeping in for me.

My boyfriend hates that I'm an early riser.

And your hair doesn't look that bad! The fringe suits you!

Oh no, that is no good!! Don't you think you'll get used to the bangs?! Hmmm, I got some side bangs recently, too. And while I love them some days, I really dislike them the other. It's a love/hate-relationship... :)

Chocolate scones with nutella, whipped cream and strawberry jam - how delicious sounds that?! I'm seriously envious right now.

Here's to a happy week!!
Love, Nadine
