Under The Weather

I'm a 90's kid and getting sick in the 90's is a whole lot different from getting sick now a days. Getting sick in the 90's meant having to stay at home, sleep all day, listen to music from my walkman, or flipping through my magazines. No means of getting in touch with my friends since everyone else was in school.

Last Tuesday, I went to the doctor because I had a really bad sore throat. I couldn't swallow, my ears hurt, my eyes were swollen and well it was just all sorts of wrong. The doctor said I needed to be confined to the hospital for a few days and would need to have the nurse check up on me every hour or so. I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing but lemme tell you something, this little nurse absolutely hatessssss hospitals. So I promised the doc that I would just take it easy and stay at home. She agreed and had me file for a sick leave for 5-7 days.

Holy Cow! 5-7 days at home! What would I do at home for 5-7 days?

Luckily, staying at home is not as bad as the days in the 90's. I kept myself busy with:

1.) Blogging. Oh how I love having all the time to check out your blogs. Thanks guys for keeping me company, if it weren't for your posts I would have been a little bored on my sick leave.

2.) Pinterest: I am now a self confessed Pin-aholic. Behold some of my pins:

One of my local fashion icons. Laureen Uy is a celebrity, a blogger, and a fashionista. I would love to raid this girl's closet!
I'm loving this girl's pants and shoes! {Pinterest}
sheer on sheer {Pinterest}
messenger girl {Pinterest}. I super love her bag.

I super love her printed pants with the plane nude colored top. {Pinterest}

I then proceeded with trying to do some of these hairstyles:
I had to try this little tutorial from Lauren Conrad. {Pinterest}
This looks pretty and romantic. {Pinterest}

3.) Online streaming. I needed to do a little catching up on a few of my fave series: Vampire Diaries, Grimm, Once Upon A Time, and Revenge.

4.) Felt like doing some crafty girly stuff so I made some bracelets.
Now, what am I going to do with all these bracelets?

5.) Sometime last year I fell in love with milk tea. I don't remember having milk tea when I was a kid. Every single day I was on my sick leave I made myself some milk tea. We didn't have any tapioca pearls around the house but nonetheless milk tea is still so soothing.

My milk tea brings all the boys to the yard. lalalalala... hahahaha. just kidding. anyway, if you guys wanna try my milk tea recipe here it is:
Ingredients:
-1 tea bag ( I used black tea)
-1 cup of hot water
-4 teaspoons of sweetened condensed milk
-3 teaspoons of honey
-6 ice cubes (optional)

Seep your teabag in 1 cup of hot water. Let it sit for around 5 minutes. I usually poke my tea bag with a spoon, I wanna get the most out of my tea bag. After 5 minutes, you can go ahead and discard the teabag.

Grab your 4 teaspoons of sweetened condensed milk and 3 teaspoons of honey and mix it into the tea. I love my milk tea cold so after mixing the condensed milk and honey with the tea I go ahead and drop my ice cubes and keep it in the fridge for a few minutes. And then voila..

What do you guys do when you're home sick? Do you guys just curl up under the covers and sleep the whole day?

Get well soon! 5 to 7 days... phew that's a lot. If that were me, I will surely not be able to stay put for that long! But I guess, 5 to 7 days at home is better than 5 to 7 days at the hospital LOL (I hate hospitals too)

And milk tea! I love making milk tea at home too ^_^

I agree - there's so many more things to do now when you're stuck at home, sick. I hear about Laureen Uy a lot! I love her style... that messenger bag... I WANT!!! Hehe! And omg... I AM ALSO OBSESSED WITH MILK TEA! I don't know how it happened but one day, i had milk tea bubbletea and that was it... now that's the only thing i order even though more "complicated" bubbleteas are the same price. Haha! I will definitely try your recipe, it sounds easy and yummy!

I agree! When I was sick in the 90's there was NO internet! I didn't get it till middle school and like 97?

I simply cannot use Pinterest because every time I get on there, I stay on for at least half an hour... and I've heard too many horror stories of people having to block it on their own computer because they waste so much time on there!
...but I always love seeing what someone else has pinned. You have fabulous taste! =]
