The blackout lasted for about 45 minutes or so. So what do you do when there is a thunderstorm and no power? Light candles and tell scary stories! So being the oldie in the house for the night, my cousins asked me to tell them scary story. Anne, a friend of mine actually told me this story ages ago and to this day her scary story still creeps me out. So I've decided to share this story with you guys.
Anne used to live away from home back in her college days. And she was renting a room from an old lady's house. The house had a total of 8 bedrooms. 6 bedrooms were being rented out, one was being slept in by the landlady, and the other room was for the maid. It was a big old house. So many years ago the house was filled with happy memories of the little old lady and her children. Now that her kids have grown she is left in the big old house alone with the maid. So she decided to have the rooms rented out. Anyhow the old lady passed away in her sleep and the casket with the body was at the house for a couple days. The old lady's grown up kids and grandchildren came by the house to visit their dead mother and bid their farewells. The house was packed with relatives and people who knew the little old lady. Tracy (who is already 42), one of the old lady's children approached the 6 girls who were renting the rooms. She asked who was staying in which room. Then she told them that she had something to tell them. During her younger years she was playing hide and seek with her older sister Beth. She hid in one of the rooms and something strange happened. She could no longer hear Beth screaming her name. She turned around and she saw something that scared her to death. She told Anne and the girls that she saw the devil in the room that she was hiding in. He wouldn't let her out. She cried and cried and finally he said, "I'll let you out, but you have to promise not to tell anyone!" Tracy agreed and ran to Beth and hugged her tight. Beth asked Tracy why she was crying and Tracy answered, "Beth, I saw the devil in the room I was hiding in and he wouldn't let me out." Beth suddenly smiled and said, " I TOLD YOU NOT TO TELL!" YIKES!!!!!
Zoiks! Scary huh! And just as the three of use were screaming the power went back! Yey!
To make it up to my cousins, we snacked on mom's Cookie Butter until everything was sweet and perfect again. Hehehehe.
I'm so happy that the power is back. Electricity is something that I've taken for granted. I mean, I've always had electricity except for when there is a black out and I've never really realized how important it is until those moments when I don't have it. I know that in some parts of the world people do not have electricity. Electricity is a necessity and I cannot begin to imagine how those people can live without it. I am truly blessed.
